RHUMBA Goal

As a graduate student who also works part time, it is important for me to stay organized. This means staying on top of assignments, projects, quizzes, and tests assigned in each class. This is the goal I have written, following the guidelines of RHUMBA, to help ensure success.

I will check CANVAS a minimum of 3x a week throughout 16 week semester to stay informed of assignment deadlines, quizzes, and tests, allowing for on time submission. I will write down all deadlines in a planner/calendar and will reach out to professors within 12 hours, via email or CANVAS, if any concern/question is thought of regarding these deadlines, quizzes, and tests.

Goal Met!

Throughout the semester I made sure to check CANVAS regularly and I emailed teachers whenever I had a concern or question. My goal was to utilize canvas and contact instructors when needed to stay on top of assignments. I have been successful in this goal and have been contacting my instructors about life events impacting class and how to work together to get assignments turned in in a timely manner. I have a hard time with the therapeutic mode of advocacy, but I have noticed with school and in my fieldwork (meeting hours requirement, scheduling) that I have been better at advocating for myself. I know that advocacy on my own behalf is only part of the mode and I must learn and grow in my skills/efforts to advocate on behalf of my clients and families as well. I hope that in the future I can see the benefits gained from self advocacy and feel less afraid or anxious and be assertive in order to achieve this for my clients.
