I would like to focus more on instructing and advocating. I have trouble being assertive and taking charge as the “professional” on the therapy team. I have noticed this in my current job and have been told on many occasions that I know what I am doing to use more vocabulary that shows I am a trained professional to ensure faith in me by the families I work with. Advocating is something I have trouble with as well due to not wanting to overstep or cause any tension at work. If I believe something is not right or if a need is not being met I have a hard time advocating for those needs without anxiety from possible negative consequences. Learning how to advocate, and be more assertive will help me greatly in the long run as an OT professional.

Encouraging and collaboration I believe will be very important when interacting with my team members. We all seemed to have issues in the same areas, advocacy and instruction, and if we can collaborate on strategies to promote progress in these areas and encourage each other to execute and continue use, we can help each other succeed. Empathizing will be important to have as well because making changes is always easier said than done, so it’s important to understand that it won't change overnight.
